ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR GOURD????
No, I don't mean crazy. . .I'm referring to having access to some real gourds! In October the gourd of choice is most likely Pumpkin (well it's actually a squash). Here are some pumpkin facts:
* Pumpkins are a fruit, in fact they are the state fruit of New Hampshire.
* Pumpkin seeds provide protein and zinc. They are believed to lower cholesterol and lessen
the inflammation of arthritis.
* The self-proclaimed pumpkin capital of the world is Morton, Illinois, where 85 percent of
the worlds canned pumpkin is produced.
* A 1,689 pound pumpkin believed to be the largest ever, was grown in 2007.
TRICK or TREAT will soon be upon us. . . TIME TO CARVE THAT PUMPKIN SOON!!!!

Had friends that grew gourds when my son was young. He worked for them during his childhood.
ReplyDeleteFavorite pie is pumpkin. And pumpkin cookies are my favorite, too.
